We all have a desire, a deep innate longing to connect with nature and all her inhabitants. Biophilia is a term used to describe this, a love of  all life on this earth. It is not a new concept but one we have lost. Nature is within us all; we are part of a wonderful ecosystem that interconnects in many ways.  As modern times have developed, we have become disconnected from nature and have forgotten a part of ourselves and left it behind somewhere.

Nature connection cultivates an emotional bond and allows a way to remember you matter. Noticing nature’s beauty and all she offers brings improved wellbeing, to calm our more driven emotions and bring with it, a sense of contentment and the moments of balance needed for healthy wellbeing.

Current research highlights the positive mental, physical and emotional effects of nature connectedness as we re-discover and re-connect to our innate ability and love of being in nature. Improved mood, increased feelings of joy, lower blood pressure, reduced stress, and overall enhanced wellbeing.

Through the wonder, beauty, awe and magic of nature, this course will help you find that lost part of yourself and re-connect back to it. You will find clarity within yourself, improve your focus and restore your wellbeing. By deepening your relationship with nature, you will develop a healthier relationship with yourself and foster compassion for yourself. This is the key to long lasting and effective self care.

Ashley Edwards is head gardener at Horatio’s in London, a regular contributor to Gardener’s World Magazine and BBC radio 4 gardeners question time. He will be sharing his knowledge around plants that enhance wellbeing and stimulate the senses.

Ashley Edwards is a qualified horticulturist and horticultural therapist having trained at Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. He’s currently Head Gardener at Horatio’s Garden London & South East, a national charity that creates beautiful, accessible gardens at NHS Spinal Injury Centres.

His work has taken him across the world to garden in America and Italy. Beyond the practical skills of cultivating plants, he understands the profound impact that gardening can have on mental health. This insight has led Ashley to become a staunch advocate for the therapeutic benefits of gardening, firmly believing that it holds the key to enhancing overall well-being. He also wants to promote diversity in the gardening industry and how gardening can change people’s life.

Is this course for me?

If you are struggling with self care or how to start implementing it. Perhaps you are feeling you’ve lost yourself, or want to deepen your relationship with nature then this course is for you. If you want to focus on self development with consistent wellbeing and deepen your relationship with yourself and nature, this is what you’ve been looking for.

The course is a combination of meeting virtually online and going out into nature wherever you live so you can be guided from anywhere. You can work at your own pace with all zoom catch ups being recorded and sent out weekly to all participants. To get the most from this course, connecting and sharing with fellow participants in your cohort is encouraged.
This is a practical course with weekly invitations to go into nature, doing and being with yourself and the natural world around you.

Where can I go?

Find your little patch of nature, whether it be urban, countryside, waterside. You can visit your local park, woodland, river, wetlands, anywhere that you feel drawn to and are able to get to easily and safely.

How can this course help me?

My course is designed to create ways to connect to nature and deepen your relationship with the natural world. Using neuroscience, latest research and my knowledge and expertise.  This course will help you to grow stronger roots enabling ways to re-connect to yourself, re-discover yourself and gain clarity.

By the end of this course, you will have an understanding of how to connect to nature and deepen your relationship to it. You will have an understanding of how nature can enhance wellbeing and be able to utilise techniques you have been guided through every time you go out into nature and as often as needed.

How does the course work?

I will email you before the course start to welcome you and help you prepare for week one and invite you to the course WhatsApp group for your cohort.
We will meet once a week online via zoom on a Thursday evening to review and reflect on the week’s invitations and prompts. I will then guide you through the following weeks invitations.

How long is the course?

The course is 6 weeks, meeting once a week for 1 to 2 hours on zoom to come together, be guided, and share the week’s invitations and prompts, finishing with a nature based guided visualisation to leave you feeling fully relaxed.

What if i can’t make the weekly session?

Don’t worry, you can complete this course at your pace. Whilst it is encouraged to come together, share and connect with your fellow members of your cohort, all weekly sessions will be recorded and sent out.

Payment must be made in full to secure place.  The course is non refundable and non transferable. Our weekly sessions will be recorded and these can be sent out to you if requested.

You cannot join a course part way through. If you cannot attend current dates, there will be further dates of the course running.
